The UFS Portal has a new look and Knowledge Base page

The Unified Forecast System Communication and Outreach group (UFS C&O) has updated the UFS Portal adding two new infoboxes Funding Opportunities and Knowledge Base. These provide higher visibility to current grants being offered to the UFS community, and to instructional materials for community members that would like to learn more about essential topics related to our shared weather modeling system.

All infoboxes in the UFS Portal provide headlines indicating latest or relevant topics in the following categories: Funding Opportunities, News, Upcoming Events, Recent Tweets, and Knowledge Base. These are linked to specific portal pages that drill deeper into each category, providing UFS Community members and the general public access to information that could bring our community closer together and get our development work to reach higher levels.

The Knowledge Base section now includes instructional videos produced by the Development Test Bed Center (DTC), a distributed facility uniting NOAA, NCAR and the US Air Force that provides research and operational frameworks for testing and evaluating new weather models. The Knowledge Base page will soon include other sources of instructional material that will help the UFS Community learn more and contribute more effectively to our mission of improving the quality of our weather models, forecasts and products.

More information on the Knowledge Base page may be obtained by contacting Dr. Mike Ek, Director of the Joint Numerical Testbed at the NCAR Research Applications Laboratory.
